User:Andreas Willow

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hello. I am Andreas Willow, or more accurately, I have aliased myself Andreas Willow. This name is purely fictious and is not, in any way, related to me or my activities, hence this particular choice.

I am a great fan of Wikipedia and I hope to improve it wherever and whenever I can. My only current areas of true expertise are liquid crystals and DNA microarrays, which are topics in Theoretical physics. However, I am a great fan of mostly everything that occurs in Nature, so I know quite a lot about geophysics, climatology and meteorology.

[edit] Something on myself

I am a 23-year old Master's student in Theoretical Physics and Mathematical Sciences at Utrecht University, the Netherlands. My interests are numerous and diverse, although many are related to physics and maths. I like writing and have been working on my own novel for a couple of years.

[edit] Contributions

Being a horrible perfectionist, I make a lot of minor edits everywhere because I do not wish minor inaccuracies to be present in a project like Wikipedia. Occasionally, I will however choose to create an article about a subject that I like a lot, and that deserves a better treatment on Wikipedia than currently present. Hence, I have initiated or substantially improved the following pages:

  • 2007 Antofagasta earthquake - I happened to be online when the earthquake struck. Annoyed because little information appeared on Wikipedia about this significant quake, I decided to search countless news sources and expand the page into something useful. I have successfully suggested that this article be put in the ITN section on the main page.
  • La Niña - My first real article. It was mainly built from info of the ENSO Wikipedia page and the NOAA site.
  • Michael Woods (producer) - My first article, quite hard because information was terribly hard to find. It's currently wearing a tag questioning its notability, which I have to say may be correct indeed - although I happen to like the music style, it remains rather rare. Which leaves me to say that when I created the article, I had no idea of the notability guidelines of Wikipedia.
