Check out the Methow {met-how} valley.

Located in Washington state, this narrow valley on the east slope of the Cascade mountian range has some of the most breathtaking mountian vistas and pastoral valley geography in the nation.
Wild fires are a constant here, and the unfortunate deaths of four firefighters have resulted in a trial that will impact the way the state and federal goverment approaches wildfires for years to come.
The Methow river flows east from the alpine slopes of the cascades for about 20 miles and joins the Chewach river near the town of Winthrop. Winthrop is a town of about 600 residents.
Most of the action here takes place outside the western theme town of winthrop. With 200 plus miles of cross contry ski trails and a small but serious alpine ski hill 20 minutes from the valley floor, The Methow valley is a true winter sports destination.
Cold mornings, lots of sunshine, skiing, Ice skating, four star lodges are changing the demographics of the valley. A refuge from the Seattle traffic and stress. ( did I mention there are no stoplights here.)
Property values are moving up at a steady clip. Trophy lodges are growing on the hills surronding the valley and private jets are appearing with more frequency at the valley airport.
The good news is, The Methow Conservancy, (a non-profit organization) has secured some important properties to be kept out of development. The valleys character will remain intact for the time being.
Still, the land rush is on.
