Andrussow oxidation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Andrussov Oxidation is an organic reaction describing the oxidation of methane in the presence of oxygen, ammonia, and a platinum catalyst to produce hydrogen cyanide.[1][2]
- CH4 + NH3 + 1.5O2 → HCN + 3H2O
The reaction was discovered by Leonid Andrussow in 1927.
