Andrew Godfrey

Andrew Joseph Godfrey is an Australian optometrist and the President[1] of the Western Australian division of the Optometrists Association of Australia. He is also a consultant optometrist[2]at the Lions Eye Institute in Perth, Western Australia, and the director of a private optometric practice, Eye5 Optometrists, in Osborne Park, Perth.

Mr Godfrey is also the chairman of the professional development committee of the OAA’s WA division, and the chairman of the Western Australian Vision Education (WAVE) conference. His special interests are contact lenses for Keratoconus and post corneal surgery/trauma, ocular pathology and dry eye[3].

[edit] Education and early career

After attending Brisbane State High School in Brisbane, Queensland, from 1991 to 1995 , Mr Godfrey completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in Optometry at the Queensland University of Technology, in Brisbane. During his university studies he was awarded the 1997 Carl Zeiss (Aust) Pty Ltd Award, the 1998 Kenneth B Ward Memorial Prize, and the 2000 University Medal in the Faculty of Health. His final year project topic was ‘The effect of dioptric blur on postural sway under conditions of reliable and unreliable somatosensory feedback’.

Mr Godfrey is co-author, with Dr JP Guillon, of the chapter ‘Tears and Contact Lenses’, in Contact Lenses[4] (5th Edition), edited by AJ Phillips and L Speedwell L, published by Butterworth Heinemann (London).

Mr Godfrey enjoys travel and playing tennis and golf.
