Andrew Birkin

Andrew Birkin (b. 9 December 1945 London) is an English BAFTA Award-winning screenwriter, actor and director. He was born the only son of Lieutenant-Commander David Birkin by his wife the actress Judy Campbell nee Judy Gamble. One of his sisters is the actress Jane Birkin and his niece is actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, whom he directed in The Cement Garden. His eldest son is actor David Tristan Birkin (born 1977). His son Anno Birkin (1980-2001), a poet and musician, was killed in an automobile accident at the age of 20. Birkin also directed his youngest son Ned (born 1985) in The Cement Garden
