Andrea Grant is a Canadian-born poet, pin-up model, comic book writer, and editor based in New York City. She is the sole proprietor of Copious Amounts Press, a small press located in the East Village.

[edit] Personal life
Andrea Grant grew up on Vancouver Island, Canada. She attended Kwantlen University College and studied Creative Writing and English Literature[1]. She was born to a Native American-Norwegian father and a Welsh-Irish mother. She is of the Coast Salish tribe, and her Native American background has been a prominent part of her work[2].

Grant was discovered by a modeling agent at a gas station in Vancouver in 1995. Since then, she has appeared in a number of print advertisements including an ad for Camel Cigarettes[3].
Since 1995, Andrea Grant has published over 150 articles and poems in publications worldwide[4].
She has been the subject of three documentaries.[5]
[edit] Copious Amounts Press
Andrea Grant started Copious Amounts Press in Vancouver in 2001 with the launch of Copious Magazine[6] Copious Magazine gained an underground following in Vancouver, and associated itself with the spoken-word scene.
[edit] MINX comic and controversy
In 2005, Copious Amounts Press published the first issue of Andrea Grant's MINX, a fantasy comic book written by Grant. Grant is cast as the main character, and the story deals with women's and Native American issues and is heavily infused with mythical themes.
In 2006, Grant and DC Comics engaged in a copyright disagreement over the use of the title "Minx." The issue was covered by the New York Post and settled out of court[7].
Issue 2 of Grant's MINX was launched at the San Diego Comic Con in June, 2007. [8]
A spin-off of Andrea Grant's MINX, V-Train, runs quarterly in Bombin' Magazine. [9]
Andrea Grant's MINX will also appear in War of the Independents. [10]
[edit] Current and Future Projects
Grant has hinted that she is working on several projects.
She is compiling an art book entitled The Pin-Up Poet. It will contain her original poetry juxtaposed with photographs of her Pin-Up characters[11].
She is also working on a book called Bleach [12] about her upbringing and subsequent rejection within the Jehovah's Witness faith[13].
