Andrés Oppenheimer

Andrés Oppenheimer (born November 24, 1951 in Buenos Aires) is an author and award-winning journalist born in Argentina, best known for his analysis of Latin American politics. He is a senior columnist for The Miami Herald and the Argentinian paper "La Nación" , and has published several books. His work has been recognized in the past with several awards including the 1987 Pulitzer Prize as part of the team that covered the Iran-Contra Affair. Oppenheimer currently has his own news program in the United States, Oppenheimer Presenta (Oppenheimer Presents), which is aired the PBS's Spanish-language digital subchannel, V-me.
Born in Buenos Aires, Oppenheimer studied law at the University of Buenos Aires and left the country following the military coup in 1976.
