Andørja

Andørja is a former municipality in Troms county, Norway.

Andørja was separated from Ibestad July 1, 1926. At that time Andørja had a population of 1,420. Andørja was again merged with Ibestad January 1, 1964 (along with a small part of Skånland). Prior to the merger Andørja had a population of 1,330.

Andørja is also the name of an island which for which the municipality was named. The island is now situated in Ibestad municipality. Its area is 135 km². The highest point is Langlitinden, 1,276 m. In mainland Norway this is the highest mountain situated on an island.
