Some coverage in leading newspapers/magazines in India is given below (to ensure notability)

  • Tehelka Nespaper Aug 26 , 2006 , Tehelka - SUFIANA ANDAAZ- Supposedly a first for India, the Sufi poetry of Hazrat Jalaluddin Rumi has been translated into Hindi by a woman mystic, Anandmurti Gurumaaji. Mystica Music together with the Turkish Ambassador and Gurumaaji launched the album Rumi – Love at its Zenith last month in the capital. Transcending religion and creed, Sufism is “all about love”, says Gurumaaji, and “anyone who can love deeply or is overflowing with love can know and understand it.” The new secular credo, anyone? Wonder if Abida Parveen will be looking over her shoulder anytime soon.
  • The Hindu, August 4, 2006 , The Hindu - Gurumaa went to Istanbul and Cornice, to understand the essence of the works of the 13th Century Turkish scholar, who wrote in Persian. "I have been singing Bulle Shah and Sarmad for long. I was looking for something fresh from Sufism and found it in Rumi. I attended sema, the whirling dances and interacted with the local scholars. I was called a Hindi Sufi there," relates Gurumaa.

  • The Tribune India, July 21 2006, The Tribune “Always revelling in the glory of God, a Sufi saint is an enigma. Shams Tabrezi, Jalauddin Rumi and Bulle Shah were humble and selfless”, said Anandmurthi Gurumaa during an interaction here today. She was here in connection with the formal release of the album ‘Rumi — Love at its Zenith’. The album featured Rumi’s poems in the voice of Anandmurthi Gurumaa.
  • Outlook Magazine March 12,2007], Outlook (magazine) Ruminations On A Poet - Gurumaa "rolled out the magic" at a Valentine's Day concert in a Delhi auditorium where a dozen Turkish dervishes performed Rumi's chants and whirling while she sang his poems in Hindi, sending some 500 youthful disciples into an ecstatic trance.

[edit] Requested move

I propose to move "Gurumaa" to "Anandmurti Gurumaa" (full name); and redirect "Gurumaa" to Guru same as the masculine version "Guruji". For one thing there is several persons known as Gurumaa by their followers, and besides it is more like a title than a name. – Leo Laursen –   23:06, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
