Talk:Anagnorisis
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I added the stub-section on Popular Culture to give an example from modern times. Further examples are welcome. One possible example is in Over the Hedge (film), when R.J. the Raccoon sees the foragers trapped by the pest control man, and with heavy-handed dialogue from Vincent the Bear, feels the full impact of what he has done. It remains a comedy because R.J. doesn't allow this realization to control his future actions, but instead seizes the opportunity to become the "better person" he was initially only pretending to be (but secretly wishing he could be). --BlueNight 07:50, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, welcome though they are, they need to have references: WP:OR. Goldfritha 16:15, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The Sixth Sense
I have to say it is sad to see a mention of the film Sixth Sense on a page about anagnorisis. Based on a reading of Aristotle it is safe to say he would have thought The Sixth Sense complete trash because it goes against just about everything Aristotle holds in esteem in Poetics. As a matter of fact, the Sixth Sense type of anagnorisis would be a good example of what Aristotle did not mean when he extolled the merits of anagnorisis! That is why I find the inclusion of such a reference in an encyclopedic article about anagnorisis egregious and distasteful. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.114.227.46 (talk) 01:17, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
