Amy Shoremount-Obra (born 1979) is an American dramatic coloratura soprano.

[edit] Early life and Education
Amy Shoremount-Obra was born in 1979 in New Jersey. She began her formal musical training in 1997 at the Manhattan School of Music, NYC, where she earned both a bachelors and masters degree in vocal performance (2001, 2003). While there she studied with Hilda Harris and renowned voice teacher, Marlena Malas. After finishing her masters degree, Obra continued her studies at the Juilliard School in Lincoln Center, as a member of The Juilliard Opera Center. She earned an Artist Diploma from the Juilliard School in 2005. Obra also participated in Young Artist Programs with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, the Chautauqua Institution, and the Lawrence Conservatory.[1]

In 2004, Obra made her professional debut at the Spoleto Festival, Italy as Ifigenia in Handel's Oreste. She also gave a recital at Alice Tully Hall and appeared as Sister Osmina in Puccini's Suor Angelica with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis.
In 2005, Obra made her Carnegie Hall debut as the soprano soloist in a production of Brahm's Requiem.
In 2006, Obra made her debut with the New Millennium Orchestra as the Queen of the Night in Mozart's The Magic Flute.
In 2007, Obra made her debut with Union Avenue Opera as the Queen of the Night in Mozart's The Magic Flute. She also gave a recital at the National Gallery in Oslo, Norway.[2]
Obra has also worked frequently as a "cover artist" (an artist who fills in if the scheduled artist can't perform). She has worked as a cover artist for such organizations as the Metropolitan Opera, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, and the Saint Louis Symphony amng others.[3]
[edit] Humanitatian work
Obra is the founder of Opera for Humanity, a New Jersey-based nonprofit humanitarian concert opera company. The company produces two opera performances per year (in concert version). Proceeds from performances support various humanitarian causes.

Obra appears on recordings of two opera world premiers that were staged at the Manhattan School of Music during her graduate studies.
