Note: the spelling Amschel Mayer James Rothschild is incorrect -- it should be Amschel Mayor James Rothschild. An earlier edit assumed that it was a typo since Mayer is a family name, but in fact Mayor is correct, being his mother's maiden name. His obituary and the family tree in his aunt's book confirm this. The Independent: Obituary by James Fergusson, 11 July 1996: "Amschel Mayor James Rothschild (the Mayor, being his mother's maiden name, was a nice joke) was the great-great-great-grandson of N.M.
