I can show just as strong a similarity between English and Hebrew, so I guess English is a Semitic language. and the same goes for Egyptian. Please, if you really want to prove their language is Semitic, bring something stronger. -Shyisc 15:01, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] contradictory content of the article

It is known exclusively from non-Akkadian proper names

but then the article enumerates some of its grammatical features, including features of finite verbs, .e.g.:

The usual Semitic imperfect-perfect distinction is found — e.g. Yantin-Dagan, 'Dagon gives' (ntn);

I wonder: how could the information about the verb be derived from proper names?!--Imz 21:37, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Easy: Yantin-Dagan is a proper name. David Marjanović 16:25, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
