[edit] What about the Renegades?

A friend of mine has an interesting shirt with a colorful display on the front readin "Amoco Renegades", and the Amoco corporate logo on the back, so I looked up this article to find more information, but didn't see anything. A Google search pointed me to this page and a bunch of really sloppy and incomplete pages, but it's difficult to patch together anything encyclopedic. However, based on what I read in that first link, I think that the group would make for a very intersting article if someone could find the information and pull it together. - Ugliness Man 13:50, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

I'd always assumed that the Torch in the Amoco symbol was taken from the Indiana State Flag (Amoco having once been Standard Oil of Indiana), but can't find any definitive proof of this. It's strongly suggested that the first Standard Oil of Indiana emblem used a torch that is very suggestive of the State Flag of Indiana. This page: http://www.waterwinterwonderland.com/flinn012004.asp says that this is the case and refers to a BP page concerning the history of the torch symbol, but the BP link is no longer valid.
