Amman Baccalaureate School

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Amman Baccalaureate School (ABS) is a coeducational and profit private school located in Amman, Jordan, founded in 1981 by Prince Hassan bin Al Talal and Princess Sarvath[1]. It caters for affluent students from 3-18 years old, and is considered one of the best schools in the Middle East.[citation needed] It is affiliated with the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) and the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO)[2]. Many of its students have gone to some of the top universities in the world, including McGill, Cornell, Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard, Princeton, and MIT. Although the school is regarded as a bastion for Amman's upper class residents and royal family,[citation needed] admissions are fair to the extent that many surprisingly prominent families have not been able to gain admission for their children, and the school has a very long waiting list 400.

Its students and administration hold an annual Model United Nations conference called AMMUN. Many smokers usually attend the annual charity fair. The school also holds many sports tournaments, in football, basketball, volleyball, track and field and softball.
