Hi,

I wanted to know, the various methods and ways to administer Amikacin doses to children. I have a daughter who is 7 and half years old and is suffering from bacterial infection. The doctors have advised to go for Amikacin injection, as there is no oral form of medication available. The confusion is regarding the right way of adminsitering this medicine to a child.

Any responses to this would be highly appreciated.

Intramuscular and intravenous are the two ways used to deliver amikacin. Are you looking for weight based dosing information (check the PDR or micromedex) or is there a different concern? InvictaHOG 17:09, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
