Captain Amirul Islam, ex-member (Harbour and Marine), Chittagong Port Authority. Born in a noble family of Mirwarishpur, Begumganj of Noakhali District, Bangladesh. His fathers name was Rustem Miah, a school teacher in begumganj. who was also a war veteran. Hewas the seventh kid of total ten siblings. He passed SSC successfully with !st division from Begumganj Pilot High school and did his HSC from Choumuhini College. Then went to do his BSC(Pass) in Comilla Victoria College. He quit studyin BSC and went to join Pakistan Airforce and did his 1st year there but then again he left and joined Pakistan Marchent Navy as deck cadet under veteran sailor Capt. Lutfur Rahman.

He obtained his Class-1 masters from UK in 1980.

He is married to Ashrafunnessa, who is a notable social worker of recent years. They have 2 children and happily residing in chittagong.
