Photograph taken by Richard Chambers, March 4, 2006 of the Pathfinder patch worn by Pvt. William (Bill) Wheeler, pathfinder of the 506th PIR, who served in the 101st Airborne Division during World War II participating in the D-Day jump of the Battle of Normandy as a pathfinder and the Operation Market-Garden jump as parachute infantry. He originally served in 2nd Battalion, Headquarters Company and then moved to 2nd Battalion, Easy Company where he remained through the end of the war.
