In the aftermath of World War II and the developing Cold War, a number of American activities and influences remained present in the Europe west of the Iron Curtain. While the Allied occupation of Germany ended in 1955, according to the Bonn-Paris conventions of 1952, American presence and influence continued in both Germany and elsewhere.
