[edit] Summary
Non-animated high-resolution monochrome transparent version of Image:Ambigram rotating.gif (requested by w:en:User:Greg_Williams)
[edit] Do Not Superseded with PNG
Reasons it would be silly to convert this to png and delete this original (so don't):
- It will not save hard drive space by uploading another fractionally smaller copy of this file, as all deleted files are now stored indefinitely.
- The patents on LZW have expired -> "the GIF format may now be used freely".
- The original Image:Ambigram rotating.gif is also a gif (and that one has to be for animation support).
- 8 bit GIF transparency is more universally supported than 8 bit PNG transparency by legacy browsers.
- "The format is more suitable than GIF in instances where true-color imaging, alpha transparency, or a lossless data format are required." ... none of these are required.
If you actually wish to improve this image, and not just be a "gif is better than png" sheeple, do something useful and supersede it with a scalable vector graphic.
