AmBev is a subsidiary of global brewing company Inbev and is the biggest brewery in Latin America. In 2004, the company merged with the Belgian brewing company Interbrew, creating Inbev. Ambev was created on July 1, 1999, with the merger of two breweries, Brahma and Antarctica. The merger was approved by the Board of Directors of Economic Defense (Cade) on March 30, 2000. AmBev has a presence in 14 countries.
On March 3, 2004, AmBev signed a global alliance with Interbrew and formed InBev which expanded the company's market into North America, adding the Canadian company, Labatt. Together they formed Brewery of Americas.
