Alvin for President
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Alvin for President" is a song by fictional musical group, Alvin and the Chipmunks. The song was released as a single in 1960 and would become the group's last chart entry on Billboard's Pop Singles Chart.
[edit] "The Alvin Show"
A musical sequence on "The Alvin Show" was intended to be made. However, because the show was unsuccessful and wasn't long lasting, that idea got thrown away. (However, other people put together videos on Youtube, consisting of clips from "The Alvin Show" and "Alvin and the Chipmunks...")
[edit] Chart Performance
After the success of The Chipmunks previous four charting singles, which all had reached the Top 40, it was hoped that "Alvin for President" would do the same. Instead, the single reached #95 on Billboard's Pop Singles Chart, becoming their first single to fail to reach the Top 40. It would also become the group's last chart entry not only on the Pop Singles Chart (later known as Billboard Hot 100), but on any Billboard chart until 1992, where their rendition of "Achy Breaky Heart", a song originally sung by Billy Ray Cyrus, would peak at #72 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles & Tracks.
