Alta Dutch Flat Elementary School District

Alta Dutch Flat School District currently contains two schools, one in Alta, California and one in Emigrant Gap, California. Emigrant Gap Elementary School District was taken over with Alta Dutch Flat Elementary School District in 2001. Alta Dutch Flat School won the California Distinguished School award in 2004. Alta Dutch Flat School had 8 teachers back in 2005, a decrease from 11 in 2003. Currently Emigrant Gap has one teacher and two students. The district currently has about 145 students. The current superintendent and principle for both schools is Debra Sandoval. The current school board for the district is Lindsay A. Ostrom, David Nelson Rosenquist, and Dawn Sibley. The 2006 Academic Performance Index results were 780, a 26-point increase from 2005. Due to the recent decrease in student population, the district has suffered a budget shortfall and tried to pass two 2006 ballot initiatives that failed to get the necessary 2/3 votes.
