Talk:Alphabetical list of pigeon breeds
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I linked up this page to Rock Pigeon, but:
- is there some better page for domestic pigeons? The enormous amount of breeds, colorings, feathering and so on is not discussed much.
- this list contains a lot of links that appear to work, but in fact point to no real pigeon breed at all. This will need to be cleaned up.

This page seems more to be a list of bird breeds than one of pigeon breeds. What the huh? Robin Chen 06:50, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] links
It seems to me as if most of the links do not lead to any article, if I have the time I will delete them if no one objects? --Robin63 04:43, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- Don't delete red links, I am willing to create a stub for all of them when I get a chance. I'm currently working on the list of breeds of cattle, which is also a 'red link farm'. Abbott75 10:44, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] List by types
I'm not entirely happy with the way this page has been set up. Pigeon breeds are not set out like this. There are many bad errors. Some of the tumblers are not listed correctly. A Frillback is not a frill etc etc. I recommend to list these under sections such as:
- Asian feather/voice pigeons. (fantails, trumpeters, jacobins, frillbacks etc fit here)
- Colour pigeons. (mostly German toys, swallows, Ice etc)
- The Frills and Owls (pretty self explanatory. Owls Turbits, Blondinettes, Satinettes etc)
- Homer pigeons. (would include homer derivatives such as Dragoon, Carrier etc)
- Pouters and Croppers. (again self explanatory)
- Exhibition Tumblers. (i.e. show varieties)
- Flying Tumblers and Highfliers.
- Utility. (i.e. meat breeds such as King or Carneau.)
This is better understood by people who deal with these types of domesticated pigeon on a regular basis. I may have to tweak things around a bit but thought I should post comment here first? Sting au Buzz Me... 02:17, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- Oops! I didn't realise the talk page had been redirected. What is the sense of that? Sting au Buzz Me... 02:19, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- This page has now been redirected to the restored list.--Sting au Buzz Me... 11:50, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
