Talk:Alpha (machine learning)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Is α simply a variable for a fractional component, or does it refer to something specific to machine learning? Peter Grey 07:21, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
- So far as I know, it's a specific variable used in machine learning notation, referring to how much a new piece of data is weighed, relative to prior experience. We're talking about a pretty narrow and specific usage profile.
