[edit] Worst Wikipedia Page Ever?
There is an amazing invention called the paragraph. You might've heard something about it in Elementary School. The amazing thing about them is that you can use more than one.
UPDATE: Much better. The skillful use of paragraphs has immensely improved this article. I guess now the only problem is that the article is plagiarized from top to bottom from this site:
http://gangresearch.net/ChicagoGangs/SouthChicago/ssvl.html
It is still one of the worst wikipedia pages I've ever seen. Hilarious stuff though.
Plagiarized text removed. It wasn't even written in the proper style for a wikipedia article. 75.72.215.207 17:38, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Who's oldest?
The article at conservative says "The Chicago C. V. L.'S is the oldest Chicago street gang." This article says "The Vice Lords is the oldest and the second-largest street gang in Chicago." While both are People affiliated, neither indicates that it's the same gang as the other and the histories differ. Thus the question is, which is correct? One of them must be older than the other.
There may be other gang articles that make similar claims, as I have not checked them all.
- The Vice Lords is the original gang, the Conservative Vice Lords was the attempt to incorporate and become a legit organisation much like the Black Panthers. Therefore the Vice Lords is the oldest, however CVL is the oldest in terms of absolute organisation.--Anthonysenn 11:27, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
I wouldn't compare CVL to the Panthers. The Panthers main goal was ecomonic improvement in the black community and self defense against a biased legal system. They did not start out nor end with illegal activity being their goal. VLN on the other hand started out on a crooked path, then went straight/legit, then went back to illegal activities. Panda
I think ya'll need to take "Second largest street gang" in Chicago off, they are the largest. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.64.45.242 (talk) 19:01, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Urban Social Experiment
I was watching a television show on the History Channel about street gangs, and they had a section about the positive period of time that the Vice Lords went through in the 60's, and how they essentially revitalized their Neighborhood in Chicago for a two year period. Not having this information in this article paints an incomplete picture of the Vice Lords, and should be addressed. Jon Thompson 20:21, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
I agree. Panda
I totally agree, and will go one farther by saying that they were shut down by then Mayor Richard Daily. Zeelog1
[edit] Hand Sign
The Hand Sign is the Indez Finger, the Middle Finger, and the Thumb out to indicate VL, which is known as Vice Lord.
[edit] Remove "Assassination of Fred Hampton" section
I think the "Assassination of Fred Hampton" section has to be struck in its entirety. It lacks any sources and it's clearly opinion. It combines conspiracy theories and it at times uses first person without quotation or attribution.

[edit] Vice Lords did some good
The vice lords did a lot of good in Chicago in the mid-1960s. They become incorporated, opened 'hang-ins' for kids to play pool and get tutoring, and attempted to maintain a crime-free, peaceful environment. They even joined with rival gangs to protest a construction site where blacks were not unionized.
The downfall of the gang in this form came when their leader and peace keeper, Bobby Gore was arrested for murder (which he denies to this day) and served ten years.
Can we get some justice served to a Civil Rights monument Please?
[edit] Incomplete
There absolutely no mention of the Conservatice Vice Lords. The CVL incorporated itself and had a powerful positive influence. It later detiorrated. I am considering adding that info. --Spikeleefan (talk) 22:18, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
