[edit] Class Structure and Competition

The AlMaghrib Institute holds classes in seminar format in sixteen different cities in North America, rather than being headquartered at any one location. It has also implemented a competitive system, where each location in which a class is taught acts as a team (referred to as a tribe or "Qabeelah" in Arabic), in competition with others. These teams are located throughout Canada, the United States, and the UK An instructor is sent every few months to each location for two weekends to teach a seminar on a particular topic. The seminar takes place over two weekends beginning Friday night and ending Sunday night on each weekend.

Each seminar a student takes will go towards earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Islamic Sciences from the institute.

The teams compete with each other and the winner is decided based on a combination of grades, the quality of newsletters and websites, as well as any other practical implementation of the material taught in the seminars.
