- Used in Iyad Allawi and Iraq interim government
- Allawi is from [1]: Foto Cris Bouroncle/Pressens Bild -- Kbh3rd 03:58, 25 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Looks to be a press photograph then and so will be copyrighted. There should be a US Govt image somewhere of Allawi. This was the most promising photo I could find to replace the current one [2]. Evil Monkey → Talk 04:56, Jan 25, 2005 (UTC)
- IMHO using a picture of Allawi with Bush is not the best – plays into NPOV. It could be cropped (as the original above was), but that still isn't a great picture. How about the Allawi picture on one of [3], [4], or [5]?
- I think the EvilMonkey pic, cropped, looks the best so far. – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 18:12, Jan 25, 2005 (UTC)
- What about this one [6]? Cropped of course. --MaxPower 17:04, 2005 Jan 26 (UTC)

- Okay, here is the gallery of Allawis. Which image is the best replacement, do you think?
-
- I personally think only 1, 3, 6, and 7 would be suitable. Also, note that these can be further cropped if need be. – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 17:54, Jan 26, 2005 (UTC)
- I like 7 me self. --MaxPower 18:07, 2005 Jan 26 (UTC)
- 7 is out of focus - not obvious when small. On this basis, I vote for 6, n the grounds that it is a) in focus and b) larger than many of the other images. Truth to tell, I;d prefer one of him with glasses on looking serious, than a happy chappie photo.. __Tagishsimon (talk)
- I could go for 6 too. I would probably crop it down vertically, so it wasn't soo skinny. I also might flip the image horizontally, so he doesn't appear to be "facing away" from the text. Here is where I got my images from if any one is interested in looking for more. --MaxPower 18:54, 2005 Jan 26 (UTC)
- Is flipping horizontally ethical? It dismays me, since it assumes a symmetry which might not actually exist. Discuss. --Tagishsimon (talk)
- I think it's ethical. But I'm dislexic. *shrug*– Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 01:37, Jan 27, 2005 (UTC)
- I see no problem in flipping horizontally. Magazines do it all the time (confuses people though if facial features (like moles etc) appear to swap sides). Evil Monkey → Talk 21:34, Jan 26, 2005 (UTC)
- No, I disagree, though without sources to cite. It seems dishonest. BTW, I like #1 & #4. -- Kbh3rd 23:30, 26 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- We don't have to flip it if you guys think it isn't ethical. But like Monkey said, magazines *do* do it all the time. It isn't that big of a deal to me ; ) --MaxPower 15:12, 2005 Jan 27 (UTC)

- Okay, so we have 3 votes for #6, 2 votes (and one explicit anti-vote) for #7, 2 votes for #1, and one vote each for the others shown. It seems to me that #6 could be used part-way down the Iyad Allawi article, unflipped, but aligned left. Then others (#1?) could be used as the primary pic on the both articles. Yes? – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 15:50, Jan 28, 2005 (UTC)
- Sounds great to me! --MaxPower 16:09, 2005 Jan 28 (UTC)
- Great. Done. The original is now an unverified orphan. – Quadell (talk) (sleuth)
