All American Guys is an online magazine and multimedia showcase founded in February of 1999 by creative director Michael Anthony Downs. The website features male fitness models from across the United States and since its launch was largely responsible for creating a new genre of "beefcake" on the Internet. The website has been prominently featured on FOX News, Inside Edition, Ricki Lake, E! Entertainment TV and a host of national publications including US Weekly Magazine and the New York Times.

[edit] History

All American Guys started off as a showcase for male models who wanted to get online exposure. Models would typically submit their own photos, which were then placed in a database for casting agents, model agencies, photographers and such to review. The website also featured online contests where the winners were voted on by the general public in addition to a panel of model industry professionals. Winners received cash prizes and all-expenses paid trips to compete in major international male modeling events/contests. The online contests lasted from 1999 to 2002 before Allamericanguys.com changed its online business model.

In late 2002 Allamericanguys.com decided to focus solely on creating original content while still providing exposure and opportunities for models who applied to be "All Americans". The new approach was successful on many different fronts and also helped launch successful careers for many of its model discoveries. Allamericanguys.com's first major discovery Justin Hall went on to land the cover of Men's Fitness and subsequent model discoveries landed campaigns with Abercrombie & Fitch, Macy's and Sports Authority to name a few.

The website currently dubs itself as the male equivalent of Maxim magazine, considering its slant towards eye-catching sexy photography. Celebrities are sometimes featured on the website and in 2004 Anna Nicole Smith dedicated an entire show (E! TV's Anna Nicole Show) to hanging out with the men of All American Guys.

Allamericanguys.com also produces calendars and DVDs of its models.
