ALLDATA® is a provider of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) automotive repair information and solutions to the professional automotive service industry.[1] ALLDATA® is commonly used piece of software used among those in the car servicing industry that includes a catalog of OEM service manuals from top automotive car manufacturers.
The software works on a subscription basis only and makes use of an external decoder key inorder to limit installations to those with authorization. The client software is installed onto the target machine and the data of car information is stored on a catalog of discs, originally CDs, now held on DVDs. A complete new catalog of discs are sent to the licensee every few months (3-6 months?). In general, each successive release adds to the existing release by adding service bulletins, service manauls of new cars, recall information and related information.
