[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Sblogo tagline.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Sblogo tagline.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 19:02, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Highland Capital Partners
Hi, thanks for your message regarding Highland Capital Partners. I have taken a look back over the article, the deletion discussion and the links you provided. I am afraid I am not convinced that there is sufficient non-trivial coverage in secondary sources to meet the particular notability guideline and the general notability guideline. In particular I am not convinced that the requirement to have 'significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject' is met. If you believe that I am incorrect then feel free to take this to Deletion Review to get some other opinions.
After looking at the List of venture capital firms I can easily see several articles on that list that, on first sight, would probably be deleted if they are nominated for deletion as they do not appear to have notability established. Sooner or later they will either be improved to establish notability or someone will nominate them for deletion the same as happened to Highland Capital Partners. The sheer size of wikipedia means some similar articles will survive longer by just not being spotted as not being notable, while another article will be deleted much quicker just because someone sees it and feels it needs deleting.
