Please stop adding spam to Wikipedia (see WP:EL). --—R. Koot 11:33, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
This concerns your linking to Algogeek in articles related to puzzles. Please do not add commercial links — or links to your own private websites — to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. See the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks. — mark ✎ 21:15, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
- Its not spam!! How do you define it.
- There are already links which can be classified as spam then. Aren't external links supposed to pointing to external sites. Do you scrutinize each site listed in external links? What is your criteria. I see that there are already commercial and private sites listed there. Why don't you take them out as well?
- Your review process is totally wrong, I see that there is this link Origami Snowflake Puzzles - Created by Rick Nordal. This page doesn't even exist. You guys should focus more on such things than picking on one website. My site is not at all spammy and I am taking efforts to make it.

- Thanks for responding. Please read the links in the text above for some relevant definitions and guidelines on what kind of links we generally welcome in encyclopedia articles. In this case, the Algorithm Geeks site doesn't really 'provide a valuable service to our readers'. Its purpose is 'to create a community of algorithm enthusiasts' and there are thousands of sites like that out there. There is no reason for a general encyclopedia to include a link to this site in its articles on puzzles. Since you have been adding it to several articles, it qualifies as spam.
- The fact that there might be other external links that probably shouldn't be there doesn't help, of course. I'll review the other sites. — mark ✎ 21:24, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
How do you defined 'valuable services to our readers'? There are already thousands of sites on algorithm, then why does wiki has it too? Your justification is not enough. I feel that my site DOES provide valuable platform to users and I have already added it again.
Again see this example : http://www.alg osort.com/ By your defination this too should qualify as commercial site. What is on this site? Links to .edu websites? What value it adds to users by collecting already present information. And did you noticed the advertisments on it????? Too many questions, I will see what you can answer
- Thanks for pointing that one out. You are right, it needs to go too, and I just removed it. Currently reviewing some other ones. Have also placed a warning on Talk:Puzzle, since there are an awful lot of links there, too. — mark ✎ 21:34, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
- I note that you just have registered. Thanks for that, it makes communication easier. I'm copying the discussion to your talk page, if you don't mind. — mark ✎ 21:40, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Puzzle
I have moved all external links in Puzzle to its talk page pending discussion: Talk:Puzzle. You can join in the discussion there, if you want. But it won't work to just re-add the link to your site without arguing why it would conform to Wikipedia:External links. As I said before, the fact that you, being the creator of the site, added the link to several articles (Puzzle, Logic puzzle, Riddle, Algorithm), makes it rather look like advertising, or maybe an attempt to lift the Pagerank of Algogeeks.com. — mark ✎ 09:17, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
Lifting of PR - thats not possible. Google clearly ignores links from wikipedia knowing that its editable by anyone.
Why I added it to multiple articles in to wikipedia - Becasuse all those articles (algorithms, puzzles, riddles) are 'related' to www.algogeeks.com. The external link is added ONLY to related articles and not spammed to any unrelated articles. I think its important to give a thought before calling something spam!
