[edit] Titling
- I was wondering if you would clear up a point with me. I plan to add details & pages to the Marvel comics superheroes, such as Thor, Hercules, Chthon, etc.. A great deal of them are in the public domain and are duplicated in different comic lines (Hercules is a real good example of this.) What's the naming convention for such pages? I've noticed both Thor (Marvel Comics) and Loki (comics) and a lot of their link point towards the academic definitions of objects (e.g. Mjoiner) Should I start new objects with the classification of (Marvel Comics) with links back to the acedemic definitions?
Firstly, if you're copying them from elsewhere, make sure it's okay (but you sound like you know that
Secondly, it's fairly simple:
- use the bare title (e.g. Daredevil) if it's not already taken by a non-comics article
- If that is, use (comics) if that's not already taken (e.g. Loki (comics)
- Use (Marvel Comics) (e.g. Thor (Marvel Comics)) if (comics) is taken by a non-Marvel article (although, if (comics) if taken, you should probably move that article to the (DC Comics), etc title and make (comics) into a {{disambig}} page)
And for links, it depends. If you're talking about the actual myth, link back to the mythological descriptions. If you're talking about the comics characters, link back to the comic pages. The exception to the last is if its an object or somesuch that wouldn't support its own comics article. In that case, you can link to the wielder (e.g. [[Thor (Marvel Comics)|Mjolnir]]) or the mythological article (e.g. Mjolnir, perhaps adding a note to the bottom about the comics version) as you please.
Hope that helps :) - SoM 14:55, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Comics Collaboration of the Fortnight
As a member of WikiProject Comics, I thought you might be interested in the Comics Collaboration of the Fortnight we have set up. Please feel free to vote on the articles listed, although bear in mind that a vote for a particular article means you are pledging to help improve the article. The goal of the collaboration is to improve articles to Featured Article status, as we feel Comics is under-represented in that area. Thanks for your help.
