[edit] Expert

This article needs serious attention. I do not mean to take anything away from the people who have already edited it and have done a great job but we need much more. No headings or pics of the man who guided England to the worlds greatest sporting triumph? Shurely shome mishtake???--Edchilvers 14:48, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

This is a nomination for this week's football article improvement drive collaboration!

[edit] Racism must not even appear to be condoned

I have removed two references to Ramsey's anti-Scottish hatred. One of these referred to his dislike for the Scots as casually as one might refer to someone's dislike for brussel sprouts. The other was an obscene quote which someone seems to have thought was funny. If this matter is going to be introduced in an encyclopedic article, then it needs to be called exactly what it is, i.e. racism. The trouble is that doing so would in turn necessitate a serious discussion which would completely unbalance a short article whose purpose is clearly to focus on footballing matters. The best option is probably to leave the subject of Ramsey's bigotry out of the article altogether. What is certainly not acceptable is for hating people because of their ethnic/national group to be presented in a manner that suggests that it was nothing but a harmless eccentricity on Ramsey's part. An encyclopedia article, which may be consulted by children doing school projects, has a responsibility not to even appear to condone racism. Bear in mind that Wikpipedia has in the past deleted articles for sins a lot less heinous than that. Flonto 10:42, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
