Alfred Maury

Alfred Maury (1817-1892) was a French physician, important because his ideas about the interpretaion of dreams pre-dated those of Sigmund Freud (who referred to Maury in his writings).

He is mentioned in Human Traces, a book by Sebastian Faulks which traces the history of ideas relating to mental illness in the late nineteenth century.
