[edit] American/British English

I have a question for you regarding your changing of pages to British English... Please consider this and at the least give me some reasons why your method is better.

It's not "my method", it's Wikipedia policy. I suggest the best thing to do is familiarise yourself with it and if you wish to dispute it do so centrally! If you want articles in French or German about France or Germany there are separate foreign-language Wikipedias for that, but this is the English-language Wikipedia. Best wishes, Flapdragon 06:26, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] La Marseillaise

Pardon, mais j'ai une question. Pourquoi avez-vous changé la traduction de la ligne "égorger vos fils et vos campagnes" de "slit the throats ..." à "cut the throats..." ??? Ne disent-ils pas la même chose? En plus, je ne crois pas que "cut the throats..." soit acceptable dans la grammaire anglaise, peut-être c'est d'accord, mais néanmoins il semble étrange. Alexandre-Jérôme 07:10, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

The difference is fairly subtle, but "cut the throats..." suggests a more violent action. "Slit the throats..." suggests a more calm and deliberate action. It would be used in contexts like "He slit the throat of the helpless prisoner", or "He put the wounded animal out of its misery by slitting its throat".

[edit] Your recent report at AIV

Thanks for vandal-hunting. Admins generally won't block vandals who've not been recently given a final warning. And we're highly unlikely to block someone who's not even edited, let alone vandalised for a couple of weeks. Cheers. --Dweller 08:58, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Main Menu.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Main Menu.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 18:16, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Tourney2-2.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Tourney2-2.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 17:55, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
