Trivia

Although often named by the media as Alexei Smertin, Smertin prefers the spelling with a y as appearing in his anglicized passport.

I hunted around, and found both spellings, but nothing saying which was preferred. Moved here until cited. Mahalo. --Ali'i 16:36, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
