Talk:Aleksandar Pavlović
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Alekander Pavlovic's family comes from Livari (LJARE) Bar, Which is in the mountains of montenegro. The people from that village are Albanian. Like most cases similiar to Aleksanders when an Albanian family moves from the mountains into the city they then consider themselves Montenegrins or Serbs. -- -Just because Aleksandar chose to play for the serbian team doesnt mean hes any less Montenegrin, the fact is he IS Montenegrin and from Montenegro.
Vlade Divac, and Aleksandar Djordjevic are also Albanian/Montenegrin, as well as Zeljko Rebraca, Dejan Bodiroga, Predrag Stojakovic... Please, who are you trying to persuade here. Aleksandar Pavlovic is a clean Serbian/Montenegrin name, and he identifies himself as a Serb, which historially and genetically all Montenegrins are. It is the same as Serbs living in Vojvodina are 'Vojvodjani', Serbs living in Sumadija are 'Sumadinci', Serbs living in Montenegro are 'Montenegrins', except Montenegro had some form of self governance since 1878, as it continues to do today. Tito's socialist regime and later Djukanovic's foced a superficial distinction between Serbs and Montenegrins. They are the same people, with same common history, same language, same traditions, same beliefs. That is why around 30% of people in Montenegro still identify themselves as Serbs, and there are more Montenegrins living in Serbia then in Montenegro. Pavlovic is just a Serb born in Montenegro who identifies himself as a Serb and wants to play for his mother national team. That's all. The suggestion that he in some form Albanian is just non-sense and Albanian propaganda/garbage.
[edit] Did he legally changed his name to sasha?
seems very unlikely. If not, this article should be moved. --ArnoldPettybone 10:48, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
