Alex Hay (born in Edinburgh, 1933) was educated at Musselburgh Grammar School. He is a former popular BBC sports commentator, Professional Golfer and respected golf coach who presented all major golf tournaments with fellow commentator Peter Allis since 1978 until bowing out from the commentary box in 2004.
His voice is immediately recognisable and many golf fans around the world see Hay as the joint voice of golf along with great friend and co presenter Peter Allis.
Hay and Allis were renowned for there great rapport on television, and enduring friendship outside of the commentary.
Hay was a professional golfer until 1994 and commentated for the BBC between 1978 and 2004.
He has since retired from broadcasting but is still actively involved in the professional golf scene. He was formerly the Managing director of the famous Woburn Golf Club in England.His son David, also a talented golfer, is proprietor of the renowned Gallobanese Restaurant in Woburn.
