[edit] Career
At the age of 15, Aleksandra was encouraged to become a fashion model. She traveled with her parents to Milan, Paris and London where she modeled for a number of top fashion houses. She then became a founding member of Models, a Yugoslavian pop group which was frequently likened to The Spice Girls. Over the following five years, Models released a number of albums.
In 1998, Aleksandra returned to modeling work and by 1999 was signed with leading model agencies that included Riccardo Gay and Traffic. She spent the next four years working out of Milan and Barcelona on a number of advertising campaigns in the print media and on television.
[edit] Personal
In 2003, Aleksandra met Andrey Melnichenko, the Russian businessman. The couple were married at a ceremony on the French Riviera in September 2005, which received considerable media interest.[1][2] At the time, the media incorrectly named Aleksandra – confusing her with a different Yugoslavian model. The press also mentioned the international singers who performed for guests at the wedding – including Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera and Enrique Inglesias.
- Jennifer Lopez performed at Aleksandra’s birthday party in Ascot in April 2007.
- Aleksandra speaks three languages: Russian, Serbian, English and also has a working knowledge of Spanish and Italian, having lived in both countries.
- Aleksandra’s interests are fashion, Russian culture, travel, ballet and opera.
- She lives in Moscow with her husband and frequently travels around the world.
