Talk:Aldansky Ulus

[edit] Russian names

The link above is a list of municipal districts. This article is about "Aldansky Ulus", an administrative unit. The interwiki would still be correct as it is the closest match. Note that the English Wikipedia has articles on Russian administrative districts (uluses, in case with Sakha), while the Russian Wikipedia has articles on municipal districts (most of which are formed on the basis of existing administrative districts). Both approaches are acceptable, albeit at times they are not compatible.
Returning to Aldansky Ulus, it is always listed as "Алданский улус" in the laws on administrative and territorial division, and as "Алданский район" in the laws on municipal division.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 17:39, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
You wrong....In law about administrative fission of the republic Saha (YAkutiya). Улус and район in law about administrative and territorial fission are an equal notion --213.148.170.162 18:21, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
True, the main law on administrative and territorial division of Sakha does equal the terms "district" and "ulus" as applied to administrative units. What it means is that both "Aldansky Ulus" and "Aldansky District" can be used; both are correct. And since both are correct, what is your objection? The entity is called "ulus" (and not district) in the article because the term "ulus" is Sakha-specific (and not, as it was shown above, incorrect). If you take a look at the laws dealing specifically with Aldansky (as an administrative unit), you'd see that they use the terms "ulus", "district", and "ulus (district)" pretty much interchangeably (I'll be happy to point you to specific examples if you need any).—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 18:52, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
