[edit] gallery

I put the painting images in a Gallery. Seems neater to me. To see larger images, just click on the image. I'm open to suggestion. JJ 20:13, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] External links

I have again removed the external links section, as all entries appear to contravene the guideline WP:EL. In particular, the links to commercial galleries are inappropriate and will be removed on sight. Wikipedia is not a marketing tool. I seem to remember from the first round of deletion that one or two non-commercial links were borderline. If someone disagrees, make a case for them here. Studerby 14:52, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

I added back the link to WhiteMountainArt. My site is educational and non-commercial as you will note from the Home Page. I have maintained the site for seven years without ever allowing a single commercial link. This article, which is a biography of Bierstadt, is enhanced by the reader having access to images of paintings that Bierstadt executed in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I suggest that you take a close look at my site to understand its scope and purpose. That having been said, the Hollis Taggart Gallery is a commercial gallery that sells art. Further, the link is to a biography which does not contribute further to the nature of the article. The MONA link is to a museum to discuss a single painting. There are Bierstadt paintings in dozens of museums in just this country alone, and this link seems inappropriate. I have not removed these last two links, but they do seem candidates for deletion. I welcome a discussion from you and others. JJ 13:23, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
It is disturbing that I tried to create a discussion on the use of external links. Both anonymous sources and Alp1776 have made edits adding and removing links without any regard to this discussion. I will revert these edits until someone tries to resolve this issue by a reasonable discussion. JJ 00:08, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

Sorry it took me so long to respond (over a month). I have been away/busy. Anyways, those links look fine to me. I cannot see any reason to remove them (I haven't read WP:EL in ages, but who really cares about the fine print). It seems the debate has ended and no further discussion is needed.
