Alan Curtis (criminologist)

Alan Curtis is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Eisenhower Foundation. [1] This private sector organization continues the work of the National Advisory Commission on Civil Disorders (the Kerner Riot Commission) (1967-68) and the National Commission on the Causes and Prevention of Violence (1968-69).

Dr. Curtis has an A.B. in Economics from Harvard University, an M.Sc. in Economics from theUniversity of London and a Ph.D. in Urban Studies and Criminology from the University of Pennsylvania.

• 1977 to 1981--Executive Director of President Carter's Urban and Regional Policy Group, Urban Policy Advisor to the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and Administrator of the Federal Urban Initiatives Anti-Crime Program (Carter’s administration) ,

• 197x-1977 - Co-Director of the Crimes of Violence Task Force (Johnson administration)

Dr. Curtis has served on many Boards and advisory committees, including Independent World Television, Partners for Democratic Change, the American Academy of Political and Social Science, the National African American Male Collaboration and the Congressional Human Rights Foundation.
