Al Khalafalla (born Alsadig Omer Khalafalla, April 3rd, 1968) is a Canadian citizen from Sudanese/Arab African origin. He is a son of Mr. Justice Omer Khalafalla, Bahrain's Superior Court Judge (1975-Present). Al Khalafalla is a nephew of the late Air Force General Awad Khalafalla, the former Supreme Commander of Military of Sudan and the former Sudanese Defense Minister(1974).
Education
Khalafalla graduated with a Bachelor of Science from University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Master of Business Administration from University of Maryland System, Frostburg State University Campus. He is a PhD. candidate (Public Policy) at Virginia Commonwealth University.Khalafalla is a prominent speaker in issues which are related to African Politics , Middle East, and Sudan.
Public Service, Activism, and Leadership
Al Khalafalla is a leading figure in the immigrants ' communities in the USA and Canada. He has a strong record of services in areas such as immigrants' education and integration, interfaith dialogues, and public policies that affect immigrants. Al Khalafalla is one of the founders and President of Board of Directors of Ibn Rushd Cultural Center in Virginia (http://www.ibnrushd.org/). In addition, he founded Sudan Foundation for Peace in April 1995, (http://www.freesudan.net). Khalafalla was awarded for his humanitarian work by many public and private organizations and universities such as the United States Institute for Peace , University of Louisiana,University of Maryland System, University of Richmond, and Virginia Commonwealth University.
