Al Dewsbury

Albert Percy "Al" Dewsbury (April 26, 1926 – December 16, 2006) was a Canadian NHL defenceman. Dewsbury by today's standards was of average size but for a player in the 1940s and 1950s, he was very imposing at 6'2" 202 Lbs. He was born in Goderich, Ontario.
[edit] Playing career
Dewsbury played for the USHL's Omaha Knights in 1945–46, starting in 41 games and scoring six goals and six assists. The following year his time was split between the AHL's Indianapolis Capitals and the NHL's Detroit Red Wings. In 23 games with the Wings, he had two goals and an assist. One of the main reasons he was so attractive to the Wings was his aggressive style of play. In 34 games with Indianapolis, he had 80 minutes in penalties.
He spent two more seasons in the AHL with Indianapolis He was called up to the Detroit Red Wings where he would win the Stanley Cup Championship in 1950.
In the 1951 season He was traded to the Chicago Black Hawks with Harry Lumley, Jack Stewart, Don Morrison and Pete Babando for Jim Henry, Bob Goldham, Gaye Stewart and Metro Prystai. He would play for Chicago for six seasons, then three more seasons in the minors.
In his last season before retiring, Dewsbury played for the World Champion Belleville McFarlands in 1959.
