User:Striver asked me to look at this page. I do not understand in what sense he was Syrian. That he was born in Damascus in 673, and Damascus is now the capital of Syria? [1] Might it not be more accurate to say he was an Umayyad scholar? Tom Harrison Talk 13:54, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
