Al-Arabi (ar:العربي) is a monthly Arabic Magazine mainly focusing on culture, literature, art, politics, society and economics. The first edition was published in December 1957, seeking to propound the ideology of Pan-Arabism. The magazine has adopted a strategy of involving photography, and freelance work, to increase public participation.
[edit] History
Under the sponsorship of the Kuwaiti Emir, the magazine started before Kuwait gained independence in 1958. Its first editor was Dr. Ahmed Zaki, a writer on linguistic and chemistry and a former Egyptian Minister. He managed to spread the magazine in the Arab world, helped by the fact that several major Arab writers had their articles and comments published in it.[citation needed]
