Akuma to Love Song revolves around an unusual girl, Kawai Maria who was expelled from her previous school St.Katria Girls' School and soon transfers to Touzuka High School, a public school with low standards. Her sharp tongue and straight forward personality often leads everyone else to hate her with exception to two handsome boys who eventually gets involved. With a devil's aura like hers and an arrogant facade to pair it up with, it's just too hard to be understood. And so Maria needs to deal with bullying, adjusting, fitting in and of course, Romance. Just how will a devil like her cope with all these predicaments?

Kawai Maria- The main character of the story, Maria has a cold personality that everyone finds hard to understand. She says things she wants albeit too bluntly and harsh, even when she intends to actually help other people. Her arrogant facade and point blank statements are the reasons why she is hated by most people and it seems she has minimal care (or none at all) about them. While she has this air of severity around her she actually yearns for acceptance and friendship and still steps into troublesome situations just to prove herself to others even when knowing the unpleasant outcome. She gives special regard to Kanda Yuusuke but exhibits much stronger feelings for Meguro Shin, stating that she feels Shin is much closer to her than God and she is much more afraid of being hated by him. She seems to like the song "Amazing Grace". She apparently got expelled because of "puching the teacher too much".
Meguro Shin- Shin is a person who dislikes to draw attention, he usually just observes the situation. He is often cold and withdrawn from the people around him and Yuusuke's constant pestering irritates him . At first, he treats Maria with indifference and disdain, wanting to do nothing about her but the circumstances prove otherwise and he is seen to actually care greatly for her. He pretends to be "rude" to Maria thinking that his actions would somehow lead the other girls to sympathize with her. In chapter 4, he scoops Maria in the middle of the class and declares that he'd take her to a hospital because of her sprained ankle, making too much of a scene as they leave. And in chapter 5 he buys Maria a pair of shoes secretely (apart from the ballet shoes he already bought her) after saying it looked stupid earlier. Despite saying he doesn't want to do anything about her, he actually falls in love with Maria and there's no way that he'd let the devil find out what he feels are.
Kanada Yuusuke- Yuusuke is a bubbly and cheerful person who's popular with the girls and it seems everyone just loves him. He always has an idiotic grin pasted on his face; much to Shin's chagrin. Initially he develops a liking for Maria as she is beautiful while having this intriguing personality. He is the very first one to approach her and constantly pops up wherever she is. While he is extremely fond of her it is not yet revealed if it is more than admiration. Yuusuke taught Maria the "lovely transform". He calls Shin "Megu-chin" and Maria, "Maria-chi".
