Akrid (alien)

Akrid are a fictional alien spieces featured in the game Lost Planet: Extreme Condition as the main enemy. The Akrid are an indeginous spieces on the planet E.D.N. III, a planet later colonized by humans as the living conditions on earth got worse. As humans began building up civilizations on E.D.N. III the Akrid became hostile and imeadiatly attacked the human colonies and thier local militias. The sub-zero tempature on the planet also drove humans away from the colony, and with no means of fighting the Akrid, the humans abandoned the colony, some of them. Those wealthy and fortunant left the planet on civilian cargo ships back to Earth, but the less fortunant were left behind and became snow pirates. The snow pirates all made up groups of close friends and family. They would scavenge the planet of valuables, while surviving attacks from the un-relentless Akrid. When humans returned to the colony they had a means of fighting the Akrid, the Vital Suit or VS, the VS used thermal energy as fuel, the thermal energy was discovered in the very bodies of the Akrid. So now the humans had a means of survival and a motivation to fight the Akrid.
