Airfair Radio is a radio station that used to cover the Biggin Hill International Air Fair. It broadcast locally for three days each year on the FM band and world wide via the internet.
Each year it broadcast live from the airfield with a programmes containing commentary, music, interviews, phone-in competitions and dedications. Some of the calls receive are relayed over the airwaves via phone–in equipment.
Running a radio station from the middle of an air field had some unusual challenges. Electrical power came from a generator, accommodation was expensive and previously costs had been high for a temporary telephone line.
The radio station is presently suspended due to a large commercial radio station wanting to cover the event.
